1. Update to firmware 3.0.1 via iTunes.
2. Download Redsn0w v0.8 here.
3. Download the iPhone 3.0 (not 3.0.1) firmware file for your device here.
4. For the original iPhone 2G only, download the bootloader files here.
5. Extract the files. (If the firmware file is zipped and in a ".rar" format change .rar to ".ipsw"
6. Run redsn0w.exe
7. Select the 3.0 firmware file.
8. Select Cydia and/or Icy and Unlock. Unlock is for iPhone 2G only.
9. For iPhone 2G, select bootloaders.
10. Follow on screen instructions.
11. iPhone will reboot unlocked (iPhone 2G only) and Jailbroken.
12. To Unlock your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS open Cydia and add the source: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com
13. Install Ultrasn0w
14. Restart your phone and insert your SIM. (Note: If you have T-Mobile USA make sure that Enable 3G is disabled in Settings)

Make sure to backup your iphone content then press 'shift & restore' in itunes before running redsnow.

I have followed your steps exactly on my iphone 3GS FW3.0.1
and after the ultrasn0w installed from Cydia. i clicked rebood device. but it never booted since that time. it reachs the apple sign and it back to reboot again. in a loop.
any thoughs?
ive tried doing the unlock and jailbreak as on the tutorial but my iphone 2g is not recognising my orange sim or am able to get the option to restore from back up ....please if any one can help i would be very gratefull

After Using this Hack, Im not able to boot, but keeps on restarting. First aplle logo, then loading, again restarts. any help ?
It says that i need to install Ultrasn0w when exactly at that time i am installing Ultrasn0w wtf??? Like it keeps on doing that. so mainly i can not get ultrasn0w for some reason! ANyone can help?
